“They say that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth but, I beg to disagree. Because if you are looking for a perfect getaway, spending it in Bohol is surely the best way.”
Everytime people ask me whenever I visit places as to where I’m from, I always answer them with “Taga Bohol man ko” with my head held high. No, I am not boasting but yes, I am proud. For my 21 years of existence, I have been to the most visited places here in Bohol and I have had a fair share of good experiences that I have been wanting to share to everyone.
BOHOL is undeniably one of the most visited provinces here in the nation. It boasts to have scenic beaches and breathtaking sceneries. BOHOL (I believe) has everything every person in this revolving world has been dreaming of. Bohol really has a lot to offer! So, let’s start of with..
THE CHOCOLATE HILLS
Who would not know anything about these gigantic hills covered with green grass that turns brown during dry season? The Chocolate Hills are one of the best wonders this nation has to offer. They look good in pictures yes, but I tell you, they look magnificent in person. Wait! I should not forget to inform you that you need to climb 214 steps for you to reach the top where you can take “amazeball” shots! And, there awaits your bell – ring the bell after you make a wish and (they say) it will come true!
THE THRILL OF THE ADVENTURE
Bohol does not only offer scenic beaches and beautiful sceneries, it also offers a lot of exciting adventures for you to choose from. We have the DANAO EAT where you get to do Bungee Jumping, Zipline, Rock Climbing, and a whole lot more. Moreover, who wouldn’t want to visit THE CHAP (Chocolate Hills Adventure Park)? CHAP offers over 20 thrilling adventure for young ones and the once young. You’ll get to experience the Bike Zip, The Earthquake, The Jacob’s Walk, and camping. OMG! These adventure give me so much chills! Geez!
THE SCENIC BEACHES
Aside from the Boracay, the Philippines also boasts Bohol for having A LOT of beautiful white-sand beaches. From Panglao, Dauis, and now, Anda. Panglao Island is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Philippines. Dauis is also slowly developing to have a beautiful beaches. And now, Anda who is famous for their Anda de Boracay. See? Why go somewhere when you can have your getaway here?
THE EVER-FAMOUS LOBOC FLOATING COTTAGE
Never tried eating sumptuous lunch in a cottage floating on the river? Well, Bohol has it. Truly, it’s more fun in the Bohol! Not only do you get to eat being serenaded by a band but, you get to eat seafood all you can. I know I know. Hold your horses for I’m still about to unveil more.
THE OLD CHURCHES
After the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol last 2013, Bohol is slowly reconstructing their famous churches. From the Baclayon Church, Maribojoc Church, and the Loon Church, just to name a few. Bohol does not only have these churches built for the sake of it. Bohol has these churches because we’re devoted like it.
THE DOLPHIN WATCHING AND SNORKELING
Gosh! I can still remember when my friends and I went to Pamilacan to do snorkeling at their marine sanctuary. And while we were on our way there, we got the chance to see the famous dolphins jumping here and there. I am still in awe with the experience. And when we reached our destination, the Pamilacan Island, I also got the chance to swim with the sea turtles. Truly, what more can you ask for?
They say “Don’t judge a book by its cover” and I just couldn’t agree more. These tiny creatures may have big-round eyes but they’re the sweetest and the most fragile creatures as they can be. These tarsiers are pretty bizarre, they say. They’re very sensitive to noise and the flashes of the cameras. Everytime they get distracted, they tend to commit suicide. This is why I’m telling you beforehand, please be cautious. Take good care of my little friends.
And of course, what is Bohol without its people?
Bohol is known for having such friendly people. Very accomodating individuals who are polite and hardworking in any way possible. We are known to be hospitable and happy which is why I am never ashamed of where I grew up. I was nurtured in Bohol and I am proud.
Truly, Bohol has a lot to offer. I just need to stop because I might bore you so I better not. But seriously, there are a lot of things Bohol can amaze you. So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and plan your next Bohol adventure. See you all!
